FAQs
We get these questions often and we love answering them. Here’s how Cold Current works, why we do things the way we do, and what you can expect when you order.
How Does It Work?
We are a community-supported fishery (CSF). Join the email list to be notified when the next catch is available, reserve a box online, and pick it up at one of our local locations.
Do You Offer Home Delivery?
Not at this time. Our goal is to deliver the freshest, highest-quality fish possible, without cutting corners. Offering home delivery would mean extra handling, longer transit times, and complex logistics that could compromise quality. For now, we keep things simple: you order online, and we hand off your fish locally...fresh, personal, and direct.
Do You Sell Sockeye Portions?
Not right now.
We’ve tested portioned sockeye before, but the quality didn’t match our standards. The fillets we sell are processed and vacuum-packed in Alaska immediately after catch, preserving freshness and texture. By contrast, sockeye portions are typically cut later from previously frozen fillets, which means the fish is partially thawed and refrozen, degrading quality.
We’re exploring options to produce portions fully in Alaska, but until they meet the same standard as our full fillets and whitefish portions, we’ll continue to offer only what we’re proud to serve ourselves.
Where do I learn about the next sale?
Join the email list below to get notified of our upcoming fish availability.
Because we announce pickup times and locations seasonally, exact logistics are set once each sale opens. When the next sale is announced, you’ll see a clear list of pickup sites and times before you order. You’ll select the location that’s most convenient for you during checkout.
